A routine delivery turned into an unusual highway robbery in Egypt after a group of thieves reportedly managed to take 105 kilograms of frozen chicken from a moving refrigerated truck. The incident happened on August 25, 2026, along the Cairo-Ismailia Desert Road near El Shorouk, Cairo.
Instead of forcing the truck to stop, the suspects reportedly brought their pickup close to the larger vehicle and climbed across to reach the cargo. The entire operation was filmed by a passing motorist, whose recording later spread widely across social media.
Gang Targeted The Moving Truck
The refrigerated truck was reportedly transporting around four tonnes of frozen poultry to a company on the 10th of Ramadan City. While travelling along the highway, the truck was approached by a pickup carrying several men. The smaller vehicle moved close enough for the suspects to reach the rear of the delivery truck, allowing them to carry out the theft while traffic continued around them.

Footage of the incident shows the men moving between the two vehicles as they accessed the back of the refrigerated truck. They reportedly opened the rear doors and began taking packages of frozen chicken before placing the goods inside their pickup. After collecting about 105 kilograms of poultry, the suspects allegedly left the area without stopping the larger truck. The amount taken represented only a fraction of the truck’s overall four-tonne load.
Driver Was Unaware Of The Theft
The truck driver reportedly had no idea that part of the shipment had been taken while he was still driving. The theft only gained attention after another motorist travelling on the same road recorded what was happening. Once the video appeared online, it quickly attracted large numbers of views and became the main source of attention surrounding the case.

The unusual footage showed how the suspects carried out the robbery without bringing either vehicle to a halt. Their movements between the pickup and the refrigerated truck led several reports and social media users to compare the incident with an action sequence from the Fast & Furious film franchise. The comparison helped the video gain even more attention as it circulated online.
Six Suspects Identified
The widely shared recording also became part of the investigation by Egyptian security authorities. Officials reportedly identified six people suspected of being involved in the theft and traced them to locations in Cairo and neighbouring Qalyubia. Reports said some of those identified had previous criminal records.
The investigation later led to an armed confrontation when security forces attempted to arrest the suspects. According to reports citing Egyptian authorities, the group opened fire during the operation. Three suspects were killed in the exchange, while the remaining three were taken into custody. Authorities also reportedly recovered weapons and the pickup allegedly used during the highway robbery.

The case drew attention far beyond the original theft because of the unusual way the frozen chicken was taken. A shipment travelling normally along a major Egyptian highway became the target of a robbery carried out between two moving vehicles, while a passing driver unknowingly recorded the incident. Once the footage reached social media, the 105-kilogram theft quickly became a widely discussed crime story.
