A simple trip to NTUC turned into a special surprise for one Singaporean helper who loves Vijay.
The woman was told she was heading to the supermarket with her employer. She thought they needed to buy a few groceries, including mangoes, tuna, and chicken breast.
Little did she know, the real destination was somewhere completely different.
She Thought They Were Going to NTUC
The surprise started with a little convincing.
Her employer casually mentioned that they needed to buy mangoes and tuna before heading out. When the helper asked whether they meant mango juice, she was quickly told they meant fresh mangoes.
Everything seemed normal. The plan was to make her believe they were going to the bigger NTUC in Choa Chu Kang, with her employer even joking that it was the last stop. But when they arrived, she was asked a simple question.

“Aunty, do you know why are we here?” She was then handed a movie ticket. Confused, she asked what it was for. The answer immediately changed her mood.
It was a ticket to watch Vijay’s latest and final movie before he moves further into politics.
Knowing how much she loves the actor, her employer had planned the movie outing as a small way to show appreciation for everything she does for the family. She was clearly overjoyed by the surprise.
A First Cinema Experience In Singapore
The excitement continued when they entered the cinema.
It was the helper’s first time visiting a cinema in Singapore, making the experience even more meaningful. Her employer even reminded her to wear her jacket because the theatre would be cold.
Inside, she looked around and took in the cinema for the first time. “Oh, there is so much space,” she said.

For someone who had never had the chance to enjoy a movie at a Singapore cinema, the outing was more than just watching a film. It was a chance to enjoy something she genuinely loved with the people she cares for.
And, of course, Vijay was the main attraction. The helper had been looking forward to seeing him on the big screen, and the movie did not disappoint.
She Wanted To Keep The Ticket
After the movie, her employer asked her how she liked it.
Her response was simple. “The movie was good.” She also described it as “super” and said it was definitely a movie everyone should watch.
She particularly enjoyed Vijay’s acting. But perhaps the sweetest moment came when she asked for her movie ticket back. She wanted to keep the ticket as a little memory.
Her employer said the movie was a simple way to show appreciation for always taking care of the family and helping out. The sweet gesture also had viewers feeling all the feels.

One commenter pointed out that movie tickets can be a luxury for helpers, so they may skip the cinema even when they really want to watch a movie. Another suggested photocopying the ticket because the original could fade over time.
Others were praising the employer for such a thoughtful gesture and how happy it made her. One commenter summed it up perfectly: what feels like a small treat to us can mean so much to someone else.
She got to see her favourite actor on the big screen, experience a Singapore cinema for the first time, and make a core memory with the family she cares for.
Sometimes, the little things really hit different.
