Starmer Seen Leaving Downing Street Before State Opening
UK PM Sir Keir Starmer was seen leaving Downing Street with his wife Victoria ahead of the King’s Speech and State Opening of Parliament on Wednesday – as pressure continued to mount on the PM to quit.
Labour Leadership Speculation Intensifies
Starmer held crunch talks with one of his main leadership rivals Wes Streeting earlier on Wednesday – after nearly 90 of Starmer’s own MPs called on the PM to quit on Tuesday.

The meeting was announced on Tuesday amid speculation that Streeting could challenge Starmer for the leadership, although other UK media reports suggested he had ‘bottled it’ – or decided against it.
Election Setbacks and Scandals Add Pressure
UK commentators have suggested that pomp and pageantry of the State Opening have given the embattled PM a temporary reprieve.

Starmer is under mounting pressure to quit following disastrous local election results last week – as well as the scandal involving his former US ambassador’s links to the late US paedophile billionaire Jeffrey Epstein.
