The U.S. will supply Israel with 10,000 Advanced Precision Kill Weapon System kits, valued at almost $1 billion, according Reuters and a report from Israeli newspaper Haaretz.

These kits convert unguided air-to-ground rockets into precision-guided munitions capable of striking ground targets and intercepting drones.

Donald Trump’s administration has bypassed congressional review to rush the approval of the arms sale, as part of a larger sale of $8.6 billion to Middle East allies of the U.S – Israel, Qatar, Kuwait, and the UAE.

The State Department announcements on Friday came as the U.S. and Israel’s war against Iran marked nine weeks since its start and more than three weeks since a fragile ceasefire came into effect.

The principal contractor in the APKWS sales to Qatar, Israel and the UAE was BAE Systems (BAES.L).
