A Singaporean content creator has begun an unusual journey around the world without using his own money.

Ng Yi Hui, 27, who goes by @__yihui on TikTok, is attempting to travel from Singapore to Peru by relying only on public support and creative methods to fund his trip. His journey has already taken him to Japan.
The Journey Begins in Singapore
Yi Hui started his challenge on 27 March, sharing his progress on social media. He first gathered money for his trip to Taiwan while still in Singapore. To accomplish this, he solicited minor contributions on the part of strangers, practiced magic acts, and sold cookies in the streets.

He even visited hawker centers to ask them to spare some of the food, and this helped him to save some money. He encountered a number of individuals that provided assistance during this period. Others called him to their table and provided him with some additional money to travel.
Travel With Minimal Spending
To reduce costs, Yi Hui tried different ways of living during his trip. He slept in a tent at times and even stayed overnight at a stranger’s home. He is not travelling alone, as his friend and fellow content creator, Michael Collins, joined him on this journey.

The two have now reached Japan after traveling from Taiwan. They recently arrived at Kansai International Airport in Osaka. Their plan is to continue to Hawaii and then travel onward to Peru, though their route may still change.
Previous Travel Experience
This is not Yi Hui’s first time traveling without money. Earlier this year, he traveled from Singapore to Thailand by hitchhiking, with Krabi as his final destination. That journey also involved relying on help from strangers along the way.

Despite the risks, Yi Hui said safety remains important. He confirmed that he prepared by getting necessary vaccinations and travel insurance before starting this journey.
