US President Donald Trump on Monday responded to critics questioning his mental health after an expletive-laden social media post.
“Mr President, yesterday on your Truth Social, you called the Iranians crazy bastards,” the reporter noted, to which the president responded in the affirmative. “True,” he replied.
“What is your response to critics who say that it is your mental health that should perhaps be examined as this war continues?” the journalist continued.
“I haven’t heard that. But if that’s the case, you’re going to have to have more people like me, because our country was being ripped off on trade, on everything, for many years until I came along,” Trump responded.
The comments came after Trump set a deadline for Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
“Tuesday will be Power Plant Day, and Bridge Day, all wrapped up in one, in Iran. There will be nothing like it!!! Open the F***in’ Strait, you crazy bastards, or you’ll be living in Hell,” he wrote on Sunday.
Democratic Senator and his critic Chuck Schumer, responding to his post, said that the country was being run by ‘an unhinged madman’ who was threatening possible war crimes and alienating allies.
Critics have been raising questions about Trump’s mental acuity in the past. Just days before US and Israel’s joint airstrike on Iran, an Ipsos poll suggested that 61 percent of Americans believed that the president had become ‘erratic’ with age, with 30 percent of Republicans agreeing with the sentiment.
