Jessica Johnston never expected her hiking trip in New Zealand to turn into such a frightening experience. While walking near a waterfall in a remote mountain area, she suddenly slipped and fell a long distance down. The fall left her badly injured, but she was lucky to survive. A rescue team quickly arrived and took her to the hospital, yet her dog, Molly, was missing.

Molly, a loyal border collie, had been traveling with Jessica across the wild landscape of the Arahura Valley. The area is known for its rough ground, cold weather, and thick forest. After the accident on March 24, Molly disappeared without a trace. Searchers looked around the area, but there was no sign of her at first.
Hope begins to grow again
As days passed, many people started to worry that Molly might not survive alone. However, a local helicopter company decided to take action. They asked the public for support to organize a search flight. The response was fast and strong, with donations coming in from across the country.

The team planned a careful search using special equipment. They also waited for the right weather conditions, as the mountain area can be dangerous to fly in. With enough funds collected, they were able to begin their mission.
A quiet miracle in the wild
During the flight, the team focused on the area near the waterfall where Jessica had fallen. After searching for hours, they finally spotted something unusual among the rocks below. It was Molly, wet, cold, but still alive. She had stayed close to the same place for an entire week.

The rescue was delicate. A crew member carefully approached her and gently picked her up. Soon after, Molly was safely inside the helicopter. Despite everything she had been through, she showed signs of energy and trust.
When the helicopter landed, Molly quickly moved toward Jessica. Even with her injuries, Jessica tried to kneel down and hold her dog. It was an emotional moment after days of fear and uncertainty.
Back together at last
Jessica later shared that the past week had been extremely difficult for both of them. Still, she felt thankful that they were together again. Molly, though tired, was already showing signs of recovery and even began playing again.

What started as a tragic accident in a quiet mountain area ended with a reunion that few had expected.
