Leaders from across Asia gathered in Boao on Thursday for the annual Boao Forum for Asia, reaffirming calls for stronger regional cooperation and coordinated responses to shared challenges.
China’s top legislator Zhao Leji delivered a keynote address at the plenary session, which brought together more than 1,600 participants from over 60 countries and regions.
According to official statements, speakers highlighted China’s role in driving economic opportunities across Asia and stressed the importance of multilateralism, inclusiveness and cooperation to support global stability and development.
The session also featured remarks from Ban Ki-moon, chair of the forum, Singapore Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, Azerbaijan National Assembly Speaker Sahiba Gafarova, Sri Lankan Parliament Speaker Jagath Wickramaratne, and South Korean Prime Minister Kim Min-seok.
Held from March 24 to 27, this year’s forum is themed “Shaping a Shared Future: New Dynamics, New Opportunities, New Cooperation.”
