The air in a small crowded restaurant was filled with boiling soup and eating people. The majority of the customers were concentrated on their respective bowls, but an impromptu conversation close to the entrance got everybody on their feet.
A woman, with a big basket of fresh vegetables on her arm, entered. The woman was worn, her hands revealing the imprints of a hard day’s work in the fields.
An Unforeseen Proposal of a Visitor.
One of the men at the table next him rose and looked up out of his food. He did this without any hesitation, calling out to the staff as he reached for his wallet. Please, please, said he, do give her a seat. “I will pay for her meal. Do her a good one, and it is all my fault.
The old man in the booth was shocked. As a sign of gratitude, she put a bag of fresh cucumbers in her hand and attempted to give him some of her vegetables. She felt he needed to be compensated with something in exchange for the generosity.
But the man mildly declined. He grinned and assured her that everything was fine and ordered her to sit down and have a hot meal without having to consider the price.
More Than Just a Bowl of Noodles.
The customer was not the limit of the benevolence. Mr. Hu, a restaurant owner was moved by the scene that was going on in his store too. As the order was sent to the kitchen, the employees thought it would be nice to do something a bit more.
Rather than the simple noodles that the woman had initially requested, they made a huge and hot bowl of noodles with an extra serving of noodles.
They didn’t stop there. The kitchen staff provided huge amounts of meat and toppings making a simple request for a healthy meal. When the bowl was set upon the table before the old lady it was far more than she had ever hoped to get.
This moment of silence of humanity suddenly redefined the small restaurant, which seemed like any other place of work.
Other diners also sat with warm grins observing how a tough circumstance evolved into a lovely recollection in the speed with which it did.
When the world sometimes runs too fast, this little store in the neighborhood turned out to be the place where people especially cared about each other.
