A Familiar Struggle for Plus-size Shoppers
For many plus-size shoppers, thrifting has often meant compromise — limited sizing, picked-over racks, or being quietly excluded from “affordable and cute” fashion conversations altogether.
That is why a recent Instagram reel by @shannonkreissl struck a chord online. In the video, she responds to a DM asking if she knew of any plus-size thrift stores, before declaring:

“Okay, someone DMed me asking me if I knew any plus-size thrift places, and I was like, BAM! This is Fashion 1 at Concord Hotel.”
What followed was not just a thrift haul, but a rare moment of visibility for plus-size fashion in Singapore’s thrifting scene.
Real Inclusivity
Shannon admitted she used to walk past the shop, assuming it was “some tourist shop.” But once inside, she found the thrift section tucked away at the back — and more importantly, a dedicated plus-size section upstairs.

Prices ranged from $1 to $10, with plus-size pieces still falling well within an affordable range. Shannon was quick to address a common stereotype too.

“And don’t think it’s all auntie auntie clothes okay. The clothes very cute, very whimsical okay.”
For many viewers, that line alone felt validating.
Why Fashion One Plus Stands Out
Unlike many thrift stores where extended sizes appear sporadically, Fashion One Plus has built its identity around plus-size fashion.
Located inside Concorde Hotel on Orchard Road, the boutique regularly carries sizes from XL up to 6XL, offering shoppers more than just token inclusivity.

The store positions itself as a space where curves are expected, not accommodated as an afterthought.
Shannon summed it up plainly:
“For my voluptuous thrift baddies, this is your new favourite spot.”
More Than One Option in the Scene
Fashion One Plus is not alone. Another local thrift store gaining attention for mid- to plus-size offerings is Honsie Ponsie.

The shop has openly addressed plus-size shoppers on social media, stating that they regularly stock XL and XXL pieces across pants, tops, jerseys, and brighter statement shirts — with budget options still available.
Their messaging is direct: plus-size shoppers are not an exception, but part of their core audience.
Why this Matters Beyond Fashion
Inclusivity in plus-size thrifting is about access, dignity, and being able to participate in sustainable fashion without being priced out or excluded.
For years, second-hand shopping has been promoted as ethical and affordable — yet many plus-size consumers were left out of that narrative. Stores like the ones featured in this piece are helping shift that reality.
When fashion often prioritises “one-size” ideals, moments like these remind shoppers that inclusivity does not have to be expensive — or rare.
