Everyone knows Bangkok is famous for many things, but its traffic often tops the list. Long queues of cars, blaring horns and gridlocked streets are part of daily life in the Thai capital.
For visitors, getting from one place to another can quickly turn into a frustrating experience. But one traveller recently showed that even in Bangkok’s notorious traffic, a simple change in transport can make all the difference.
Choosing a Different Ride
The traveller initially planned to take a taxi. After seeing the standstill traffic, however, he decided against waiting and opted to book a Grab motorbike instead.
What caught attention was the luggage he was carrying — a large, heavy suitcase that looked far too bulky for a motorcycle. At first glance, it seemed unlikely that both the passenger and the suitcase could be transported safely on two wheels.
A Creative Moment on the Road
When the motorbike arrived, the traveller struggled to lift the oversized suitcase. The rider, however, remained unfazed. After a brief look, he quickly came up with a solution.
Rather than attempting to secure the suitcase to the back of the bike, the rider helped position it directly on the passenger’s lap. The arrangement looked unusual, but it worked.
Smooth Ride Through Traffic
With the suitcase balanced, the motorbike merged into traffic. While cars remained stuck in place, the rider skillfully navigated through narrow gaps between vehicles.
The passenger held onto his suitcase tightly, but the rider maintained steady control throughout the journey. Despite the size of the luggage, the ride appeared smooth and uneventful.
A Normal Scene in Thailand
For many locals, scenes like this are nothing new. Motorbikes in Thailand are commonly seen carrying all kinds of cargo, from food and parcels to furniture and household items.
Using a motorbike to get around traffic is a practical, everyday solution — especially in cities like Bangkok, where congestion is unavoidable.
A Short Ride, A Lasting Memory
The traveller arrived at his destination on time, turning what could have been a stressful delay into a memorable experience.
The brief ride served as a reminder that in Bangkok, two wheels can often succeed where four cannot — and sometimes, all it takes is a simple alternative to keep moving forward.
