A Man in Terengganu Recently Used a Giant Python to Scare Away Foreign Refugees

A surprising clip footage from Terengganu has been gaining traction online lately, leaving viewers reacting with strong opinions on the scene. It isn’t every day a person tries to manage a crowd by lugging around a literal giant python.

Rather than trying to talk things out or waiting for the cops to show up, this individual figured a massive snake was the quickest way to make people scatter. The whole scene is bizarre and pretty unsettling, and it has basically split the internet down the middle regarding whether the guy completely crossed the line.

In the video, the guy is just lugging this huge reptile around like it’s nothing, walking straight at a group of foreign beggars. The person filming the whole thing from their car was clearly having a blast, laughing their head off as the beggars bolted in total terror.

Once they cleared out, the guy just stopped. It’s a short recording, but it’s definitely sparked a massive, messy conversation about the reality in the streets.

The Real Story Behind the People Running Away

As the clip started picking up steam, we found out a bit more about the people being chased. Word is they are Rohingya refugees staying in a district in Terengganu.

While some thought it was a funny “fix” for the begging problem, others pointed out that these folks are already in a rough spot. There’s even talk on social media that they’ll likely be right back at that same spot tomorrow, snake or no snake.

Malaysia is currently grappling with a complex and increasingly strained refugee situation. Official figures remain unclear, but estimates suggest that between 100,000 and 200,000 refugees may be living in the country. By comparison, neighbouring states such as Thailand and Indonesia host significantly smaller refugee populations, numbering only in the thousands. This disparity has contributed to growing public frustration, with some segments of society responding through provocative or extreme actions.

Is a Snake Tactic Actually a Good Idea?

Discourse in the comments showed mixed reactions, with a suprising majority agreeing witht he local in the video.

Critics, however, argued that deploying an animal amounted to intimidation and harassment. They maintained that frustration, regardless of its cause, does not justify actions that compromise safety or deny the dignity of others.

Many are calling for a clear and consistent response, but individuals appear to be acting on their own judgment. The situation remains disordered, and such actions do little to address the underlying structural issues driving the problem.
