It represents that it is not just a wedding performance but is also deeply connected to the identity of Singapore. Because the lion is the national symbol of this city-state.

Exceptions in Weddings

Lion dances are usually seen in Singapore at festivals or opening ceremonies. However, the presence of pink lions at wedding ceremonies is new to many. In this ceremony, pink is chosen instead of red or gold.

Lion Symbol

The lion is an important part of Singapore’s national identity. The name ‘Singa Pura‘ means the city of lions. According to history, it was named after a lion seen on the island in ancient times.

Therefore, the lion is given importance as a symbol of courage, strength, and excellence. Many people see the matter as meaningful since that symbol appears on the wedding stage.

Pink Color Message

The pink lion gives a different message than the usual lion dance. This color is considered a symbol of love, joy and new beginnings. The use of this color at the wedding ceremony fits the atmosphere of the ceremony.
