Batik Air Expands Subang Operations With Four New Routes
Batik Air has rolled out four direct routes from Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport in Subang, connecting the city airport to Singapore, Jakarta, Johor Bahru and Langkawi.
Flights to Singapore and Jakarta began on 8 December. Johor Bahru services commenced on 11 December and Langkawi flights launched on 12 December.
The move strengthens Subang Airport’s position as a central travel hub for Klang Valley residents, particularly as airport upgrades continue under Malaysia’s Subang Airport Regeneration Plan (SARP).
Batik Air Head of Marketing Bavani Veeriah said the airline sees Subang regaining momentum as infrastructure improves and air traffic rebounds. She added that the carrier is “excited to be part of Subang’s revival” as growth returns to the airport.
CEO Datuk Chandran Rama Muthy described the expansion as a strategic step that boosts connectivity and offers travellers alternatives to Kuala Lumpur International Airport.
Alternative Gateway for Singapore Travellers
For Singaporeans, this is a new direct entry path into Klang Valley outside of KLIA. The Subang airport sits far closer to Kuala Lumpur city than KLIA, and the new routes could reshape regional travel patterns between both countries.
Chandran highlighted that Subang’s central location and ongoing modernisation works are helping the airport evolve into a convenient gateway for both leisure and business travel.
He said the development supports government plans to modernise the airport and lift regional travel activity ahead of Visit Malaysia Year 2026. According to him, improved links will bring more visitors into Malaysia, while strengthening “economic ties, trade flow and regional cooperation.”
Tourism Boost for Selangor, Especially from Indonesia
Tourism Selangor chief executive officer Chua Yee Ling said the new routes could help raise visitor numbers as the state makes its final push for Visit Selangor Year 2025.
Selangor has already recorded 6.4 million tourist arrivals as of the third quarter this year, and Chua believes direct access from Indonesia — identified as the state’s most active medical tourism market — will spur further growth.
The additional flights are also expected to support Selangor’s cruise tourism activity based in Klang and improve internal travel access across the Klang Valley.
Current Network and Promotions Running Now
Besides the new routes, Batik Air continues to operate flights from Subang to Penang, Kota Bharu, Kota Kinabalu, Kuching and Bangkok.
To mark the launch, the airline rolled out a promotional campaign active for bookings made between 12 and 14 December, covering flights until June 2026.
