China’s homegrown passenger jet, the C919, drew huge attention at the Dubai Airshow as visitors stepped inside and experienced its new “Oriental Elegance” cabin design for the first time.
Many people were surprised by how calm, modern, and stylish the interior felt. The aircraft is built by the Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China (COMAC), and this was its first major appearance in the Middle East, making the reaction especially important for the company.
A Cabin Inspired by Chinese Elegance
The C919 on display featured a 164-seat, three-class layout, designed with the theme “Being in an elegant Chinese style, like walking in the light.” Soft colours, clean lines, and smooth surfaces created a peaceful atmosphere that reminded visitors of modern Chinese art.
Sources highlight that the cabin was designed to feel warm and welcoming, blending tradition with modern comfort.
More Space and Comfort Than Expected
Many aviation experts said they were surprised by the comfortable seats and extra-wide aisle, which felt roomier than similar aircraft from other manufacturers.
The materials used throughout the cabin, from the seat fabric to the wall panels, looked high-quality and carefully chosen. Visitors said the entire interior gave a sense of strong attention to detail.
Smart Features Designed for Passengers
One thoughtful detail that caught attention was the height of the overhead luggage bins. They are placed lower than on many Western planes, making them easier for a wide range of passengers to reach. This small change made the cabin feel more user-friendly.
The aircraft also features LED mood lighting that smoothly changes colour, creating a relaxing atmosphere during different phases of the flight.
A Modern Cockpit for Pilots
Pilots attending the airshow were also allowed inside the cockpit, which features a modern glass-screen design. Many described it as clean, organised, and easy to understand.
The controls are digital, with large displays that give pilots clear information during flights. The overall design aims to make flying simpler and safer.
A Confident Debut in the Middle East
With positive comments from both visitors and aviation professionals, the C919’s Middle East debut has helped raise confidence in China’s growing aviation industry.
The cabin design, along with the aircraft’s flying demonstrations, may help COMAC take a stronger place in the global aircraft market.
