Intense jealousy has led to the death of an elderly carpenter in the Singai area of Sarawak. The 73-year-old man went to his house to fight over his girlfriend’s affair. He was later beaten with a wooden stick and kicked, killing him on the spot. Police have arrested two suspects, who surrendered to the police station after the incident.

The Incident Began at Night
The incident occurred at 11.39pm on 29 November, Saturday, at a house in Kaptun Atas, Singai. The victim had gone to question his 63-year-old girlfriend about her affair with another man. An argument began, which quickly escalated into a fight. According to the complaint, the victim punched the woman, who ran outside. The situation worsened when the victim tried to follow her.

Baton Blow and Serious Injury
The woman found a red wooden stick near the gate of the house and hit the victim in the hand with it. Meanwhile, the woman’s alleged boyfriend, a 63-year-old retired army officer, arrived. He initially tried to stop the situation, even kicking the victim.

He then told the woman not to hurt her further, as the victim then fell to the ground bleeding from a head injury. Police later recovered a five-foot-long wooden stick and traces of blood from the scene.
Case Registered as Murder
Initial investigation found that the victim had serious injuries to her head, hands, feet and face. Police suspect that the incident was the main reason for the incident. The two suspects surrendered at the police station at 8:20 am and were arrested.

The matter is being investigated as a murder case under Section 302 of the Penal Code. The entire incident has now sparked widespread discussion in the local community.
