57-year-old teacher Lim Siong Fui has created a unique scene in Negeri Sembilan. To walk the same path with his son and motivate him, he sat for the SPM exam again after almost 40 years. He enrolled in Mathematics and Additional Mathematics and studied with him every day. This strange determination is now the center of discussion on social media.

Preparing Together
Lim said that studying side by side with his son Yi Hen was a special experience. They would discuss difficult solutions and try to understand the topics in a new way. Although revisiting mathematics after all these years was challenging for him, his son’s presence gave him strength.

He believes that this joint preparation has created a kind of healthy competition between them. At the same time, his main goal was to help his son study.
Father’s Old Memories
Lim first took the SPM in 1986 and did well in Mathematics and Additional Mathematics at that time. This time too, he wants his son to repeat that success. He said that even as he grows older, his interest in learning never wanes.

For him, this exam is not just about education, but also a special milestone for father and son. He believes that being by his son’s side like this is the true responsibility of a father.
Son’s Goals and Family
Yi Hen is naturally good at math and wants to study computer science in the future. Lim said that there are no obstacles from the family; rather, they encourage his son to choose his own path.

He regularly explains to his son the importance of discipline and teaches him the value of hard work. According to Lim, interest and focus are the most important for success. Every bit of progress his son makes in this exam motivates him even more.
Social Media Reaction
People are praising Lim online as an “extraordinary example.” Many wrote that such dedication from a father is truly inspiring, and many of them are congratulating them.

30% Enrollment Surge
The state education department said that this year, private candidates in Negeri Sembilan have increased by more than 30 percent. A total of 17,354 candidates are taking the SPM at 145 centers in the state.

Even hospitals have set up some testing centers for special situations. Fifteen centers have been identified as risky due to the risk of flooding during the rainy season. The department has formed a special committee to ensure the safety of candidates.
