US President Donald Trump is currently on a tour of Asia. One of the most talked about means of travel with him is the world’s most secure aircraft, Air Force One. Not just an aircraft, it is like a floating White House in the sky, equipped with all the facilities of state administration.
VC-25: The President’s aircraft
Air Force One is actually two specially built Boeing 747-200B aircraft, with tail numbers 28000 and 29000. Their military name is VC-25. When the US president boards this aircraft, it is immediately known as ‘Air Force One.’
Since its first use in 1990, it has become a symbol of the dignity, power, and technology of the United States.

Luxurious palace in the sky
The VC-25 aircraft has an executive suite, where the president’s bedroom, office, and private bathroom are all amenities. The aircraft has a conference and dining room, where both meetings and dinners are possible.
There are separate seats and work areas for the president’s family, senior staff, security forces, and press personnel.

Two galleys can prepare meals for 100 people at once; there is an in-flight pharmacy, a medical unit, and even minor surgery.
The VC-25, manufactured by Boeing, is powered by four powerful General Electric jet engines, each capable of 56,700 pounds of thrust. The 231-foot-long, 63-foot-tall aircraft has a wingspan of about 195 feet.

It can fly at a maximum speed of 630 miles per hour and can reach an altitude of 45,000 feet. It has a maximum nonstop flight range of 7,800 miles and can refuel in the air if necessary.
The aircraft, which can carry 30 crew members and 71 passengers, first entered service in 1990 and has been making history as the reliable aircraft of US presidents ever since.

History from the past
The history of using a separate aircraft for the president in the United States began during the time of President Franklin D. Roosevelt. From the ‘Sacred Cow‘ of that time to Harry Truman’s ‘Independence,’ Eisenhower’s ‘Columbine,’ and John F. Kennedy’s VC-137, today’s modern Air Force One has arrived.

After the death of President Kennedy in 1963, his body was brought back to Washington on this plane.
Later, on the day of the 9/11 attacks, George W. Bush also returned safely on the same plane. This aircraft has witnessed many important moments in history.
A unique combination of safety and technology
The current Air Force One aircraft has sophisticated and secret security systems, which are capable of protecting the aircraft’s communications and electronic systems from electromagnetic waves generated during a nuclear explosion.

The upper part of the aircraft has a complete telecommunications center, from which it is possible to maintain contact with any place in the world.
The lower level has a spacious cargo space with an automated baggage handling system. And in the quiet part of the front of the aircraft is the president’s private suite.

The planes are operated under the 89th Airlift Wing of the Air Mobility Command based at Joint Base Andrews, Maryland.
The future of Air Force One
Three more modern VC-25B models scheduled to join the fleet by 2027. However, for now, leaders like Trump still rely on these two legendary aircraft, which are not just transportation but a shining symbol of US state power.
