Camera Found by Student Under Desk
Police in Aichi Prefecture arrested Seiki Mizui, a 40-year-old public elementary school teacher in Nagoya, after he was accused of secretly placing a camera in his classroom to film female students, Jiji Press reported, according to The Tokyo Reporter.

The incident came to light on September 12, when a child spotted a small camera attached to the underside of a desk and informed their parents.

Teacher Confessed Motive to Authorities
Upon questioning, Mizui admitted to the allegations. He reportedly told investigators,
“I was interested in the bodies, clothing, and underwear of female students.”
He was arrested on suspicion of violating a prefectural anti-nuisance ordinance.
School and Police Response
According to the Nakagawa Police Station, the school first questioned Mizui after the discovery. During the internal inquiry, he admitted to placing the camera, which prompted school officials to contact the police.
City’s Leadership Condemns Incident
Nagoya’s mayor, Ichiro Hirosawa, strongly condemned the incident. He described the teacher’s actions as outrageous and stressed that new measures must be introduced to prevent such cases from happening again in the future.
