Man Abducted in Broad Daylight in Viral Video, Suspects Arrested

Police believe the abduction was linked to a debt dispute.

Man Abducted in Broad Daylight in Viral Video, Suspects Arrested

All four suspects involved in the abduction of a man in broad daylight in Bukit Puchong, Malaysia, an incident that went viral online, have now been arrested.

According to The Star, three additional suspects, aged 18 to 19, were detained on Thursday (July 24) in Hulu Selangor and Puchong.

Authorities confirmed the arrests, stating that police also recovered the victim’s mobile phone and clothing.

Initial Arrest and Rescue

The first suspect, a 32-year-old man with a criminal record, was arrested on Tuesday (July 22) at around 10 pm, in SS19, Subang Jaya, shortly after the incident.

The victim was rescued during the operation and sustained minor injuries. He has been remanded for four days (until Saturday, July 26) to assist with investigations.

Debt Dispute Believed to Be Motive

Police believe the motive behind the abduction was related to a personal debt dispute. The case is being investigated under:

  • Section 365 of the Penal Code (kidnapping),

  • Section 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), and

  • Section 43 of the Societies Act 1966 (involvement in unlawful societies).

Abduction Captured in Viral Video

The incident occurred on Tuesday, July 22, at around 6.30 pm along Jalan Persiaran Puchong Permai.

A 15-second video circulated on social media shows the victim being dragged and forced into the back of a lorry by four men, and is believed to have taken place shortly after a physical altercation between the victim and the suspects.

The victim is seen trying to escape but is repeatedly assaulted. Subang Jaya District Police were informed about the incident at 6.28 pm.

Police Appeal for Information

Although all suspects have now been detained, police are continuing investigations and have urged members of the public to come forward with any further information.
