A long-serving teacher in Russia resigned after unintentionally displaying inappropriate content during a physics lesson for 13- and 14-year-old students.
The teacher, identified as 62-year-old Razif Nurgaliev, had been teaching for nearly four decades at a school in Tashkinovo village, near Neftekamsk.
Laptop Still Connected to Projector
The incident occurred when Nurgaliev attempted to access an online journal on his laptop, but an unrelated website appeared on the screen.
Unbeknownst to him, his laptop was still connected to the classroom projector, making the content visible to the entire class.
A student then secretly recorded the event from behind a textbook, and the footage quickly spread online.
School’s Initial Response Sparks Backlash
Despite widespread outrage from parents, the school initially defended Nurgaliev, arguing that he was a well-respected teacher with an otherwise solid career.
Additionally, school officials even suggested that students may have played a prank on the veteran educator.
Teacher Steps Down Amid Public Pressure
According to reports, Nurgaliev admitted to officials, “I clicked on something, and some website opened.” He maintained that the incident was unintentional and was shocked over the video going viral.
Despite the school’s initial willingness to keep him, Nurgaliev resigned immediately following intense backlash from parents.
Headteacher Delays Decision Pending Investigation
Headteacher Rudania Burkhanova acknowledged the viral video and stated that an internal review was underway.
She refrained from making an immediate decision, explaining that she wanted to speak with both the teacher and the affected students before determining any consequences.
Investigation and Next Steps
According to the Daily Mail, a law enforcement investigation has been launched in the Bashkortostan region, and Nurgaliev’s laptop has been confiscated for further examination.
Burkhanova assured that a thorough review of the situation would be conducted before any decisions were made.
“I need to hear both sides: I have already talked to the children, the parents, and I will talk to the teacher,” she stated.
