Bugis isn’t just about the many shopping malls and shopping streets in the vicinity, there are plenty of good food here alongside arts and fun activities that you can partake in if you visit.
National Library
As Singapore’s largest library, spending a full day here would not be enough for you to take a look at its entire collection of books. The building consists of two libraries, the Central Public Library and the Lee Kong Chian Reference Library and also houses a Drama Centre as well as The National Library Board (NLB) headquarters.
Structured as two towers connected by walkways and almost entirely encased in glass, check this place out and get fantastic views of the city from the top floor’s wide reference section and study rooms. It’s also a well-known secret amongst students that it’s one of the best places to get your studying done if you need a place to mug so make sure you head on down early to save yourself a spot.

Warong Nasi Pariaman
Warong Nasi Pariaman is an eatery along North Bridge Road and Kandahar Street and according to wikipedia, the restaurant is believed to be the oldest surviving stall selling Nasi Padang in Singapore since 1948. The restaurant continues to churn out homely platters of authentic Nasi Padang dishes and they are known for their generous portions of food. Choose from a plethora of options such as begedil, ikan bilis, sambal goreng, tofu and long beans or if you are feeling rich, opt for the delicious beef rendang when you visit.

Fish@Bugis+

Hill Street Tai Hwa Pork Noodle
You might argue that this one Michelin-starred restaurant isn’t really in Bugis, but that’s picking on the details. We come here for what has been dubbed “Singapore’s Finest Bak Chor Mee.” The bowl of delicious, minced pork marinated with chilli and vinegar and served with springy noodles at Hill Street Tai Hwa Pork Noodle is still one of the tastiest meals you can get in town. Perfect for times where you crave a good meal but just can’t see yourself parting with $20 in a restaurant, give the original stall a try when you are in the vicinity!

Malay Heritage Centre
Opened in June 2005 to the public, the Malay Heritage Centre (MHC) provides wonderful cultural exposure and learning opportunities for visitors of all ages and interests. Situated amidst the Kampong Gelam precinct, the Centre acts as a vital heritage institution for the Malay community in Singapore.
Through its exhibits, programmes and activities, the Centre hopes to honour the past while providing a means for present-day expression. Do note that the Malay Heritage Centre is currently closed for revamp works so do keep a look out for updates on their website to find out the latest happenings.
