National Library

As Singapore’s largest library, spending a full day here would not be enough for you to take a look at its entire collection of books. The building consists of two libraries, the Central Public Library and the Lee Kong Chian Reference Library and also houses a Drama Centre as well as The National Library Board (NLB) headquarters.

Structured as two towers connected by walkways and almost entirely encased in glass, check this place out and get fantastic views of the city from the top floor’s wide reference section and study rooms. It’s also a well-known secret amongst students that it’s one of the best places to get your studying done if you need a place to mug so make sure you head on down early to save yourself a spot.

You might argue that this one Michelin-starred restaurant isn’t really in Bugis, but that’s picking on the details. We come here for what has been dubbed “Singapore’s Finest Bak Chor Mee.” The bowl of delicious, minced pork marinated with chilli and vinegar and served with springy noodles at Hill Street Tai Hwa Pork Noodle is still one of the tastiest meals you can get in town. Perfect for times where you crave a good meal but just can’t see yourself parting with $20 in a restaurant, give the original stall a try when you are in the vicinity!
