Paying $5 for a Ramly Burger

A man’s rant on TikTok about the price of Ramly burgers has been gaining traction. Brandon, who goes by tiktokforthesimps on TikTok, complained about paying $5 for a Ramly Burger.

His video garnered more than 30,000 views in just over 8 hours. Many commentators shared his concerns on the rising prices of Ramly burgers.

Brandon, through his caption, stated that pasar malams were “really going overboard and falling too far”. We assume the former is a reference to pricing, but we are unsure what the latter expression means.

Cost Price 80 cents?

In his caption, Brandon claimed that the cost price of making a Ramly burger is “literally 80 cents”. It is unclear if Brandon factored in manpower costs, rent, and other related costs in arriving at his conclusion.

Brandon added that you could get a meal at McDonalds for the same price.

Reminiscing old Ramly prices

Many users in the comments section recalled a time in the not too distant past where Ramly burgers were sold for $2. They observed that the price had slowly increased since then.

Just buy from Malaysia next time

A few users suggested that we should just buy Ramly burgers in Malaysia instead of Singapore. One TikToker noted that in Malaysia, the Ramly burgers taste better and cost less.

It was suggested that an upsized Ramly burger with extra egg and cheese costs about 5 MYR, which is less than 2 Singapore dollars.

Lyah opined that the high prices could be due to rent. However, she told those who want better and cheaper Ramly burgers to go across the causeway.
