The coffee went cold for the unlucky customers of a coffee shop located on Jalan Wong King Huo in Sibu, Sarawak as a shooting broke out on the premises.
The incident occured around 5PM on 1 January. In CCTV footage that has gone viral, two men can be seen firing into the coffee shop. They were dressed as delivery riders, having arrived at the scene on a motorcycle. With their unassuming getup, none of the customers likely suspected anything until they heard the gunshots.

One of the suspects hugged the wall of the shop’s storefront before planting himself in the centre of the entrance, firing inside. While chaos surely erupted within the shop, the other shooter can be seen firing inside from a distance, giving his accomplice time to run away.
Both men made a run for it when moments later, a man ran out of the shop with a chair in hand, swinging it around boldly. He sprints out of the shop, knocking down tables and chairs as he goes, before dropping the chair to run down the walkway.
The video piqued the interest of netizens, with some joking to “not bring a chair to a gun fight”, while others worried about guns becoming more common in Malaysia.
As a result of the shooting, three men were injured at the scene and have been brought to private hospitals for treatment. The suspects have yet to be identified, and police are currently looking into the case.
