“Just doing my duty, Madam” – Migrant Worker fixes fallen Singapore Flag at Haig Road

A Fallen Singapore Flag at Haig Road

When Ms Amy Tashiana, a Traffic Management Officer, was reporting for work at Haig Road at about 9.00am, she saw a Singapore flag lying on the ground.

The night before, there was heavy rains and strong winds. This was probably the cause of the flag being dislodged from the ground.

She then saw a migrant worker picking up the fallen flag and mounting it back onto the pole. She immediately went up to the migrant worker to thank him for his actions. The migrant worker was there to assist with road excavation works. Ms Amy was also there to help guide vehicular traffic because of these road work

“It is my duty” – Migrant Worker

According to Ms Amy, the migrant worker smile widely at her when she thanked him. He then said “It’s okay madam. It is my duty to fix anything that falls to the ground.”

Reflecting on the incident, Ms Amy said she salutes and respects the Migrant Worker for the respect he shows to Singapore and for making Singapore his second home. She also added that she felt patriotic as she loves her country so much.
