The MP for Yio Chu Kang SMC, Mr Yip Hon Weng, recently posted a video on Facebook that garnered more than 150,000 views and almost 150 comments.
The 16-second clip, which was shot at Malcolm Road (near Catholic Junior College), showed a long snake that was long and fast crossing the road. Yip encountered the snake during his morning run on 25 April 2022.
@yiphonweng beware of “moving” tree branches! #sgnature #snake #snakes #treebranch #sgrunners #cityinagarden
Yip quipped that people should be wary of “moving” tree branches.

Anita Varma, a top fan of Yip, said that the video depicts “our blissful coexistence with this shy and reticent creature”.
When a Facebook user suggested that he should report the incident to NParks via the OneService app, Yip responded “what’s there to report? The fella trying to go home.”
Ron Ash thanked Yip for not killing the snake. Yip said that, even if he had the skills, he would not kill the snake. Good to know, I suppose.
